This is the entry that I will use to keep track of the passed balls that happen to Tim Wakefield this year without Doug Mirabelli and the resulting unearned runs that occur.

What was Mirabelli's salary. I am sure you could figure out what the cost per pass ball was. You should also try and indicate how many pass balls contribute directly to a loss.

The Tim Wakfield passed ball and unearned runblog

Mirabelli's salary this year was 550 k with the potential for 1 million with performance incentives.   About the past balls contributing to the loss... I will be considering that.  Say for instance Cash allows a passed ball and a run scores, and boston ends up loosing the game by a run I will call that a loss as a result of a passed ball.   I like your idea about the cost per passed ball.  I will also keep track of that as well.

I don't think however that Cash will be as bad as Bard was because Cash showed last year that he can handle wakefield but I do expect some struggles.

About The Wakefield&Mirabelli got screwed blog
My feelings on the releasing of Mirabelli are that Doug was screwed over by Boston because he was given a contract this past year, if Boston wanted to release him why didn't they do it then? I'm starting to think they did this so Wakefield wouldn't go. Wakefield also got screwed in this too. He lost a friend and a consistent reliable catcher behind the plate. If Wakefield retires short of reaching his goals of 200 wins and most wins in a red sox uniform for any other reason then injuries, I will know that it will be a result of this. This year I will be following each game that Wakefield pitches and keeping track of every passed ball that is allowed and the resulting runs that are scored because of it. I know it won't be as bad as Josh Bard because Cash had success last year but it will not be the same as mirabelli. I wish I could measure the effect of not pitching to mirabelli on Wakefield but there is no possible way to do this.
